Mosaics
Resource: Powerpoint about Mosaics in Ancient Rome
Description: This powerpoint aims to educate the child about how mosaics were made in Ancient Rome. It also shows example of different mosaics that have been found in Italy. Via: I made this resource myself adapted from a powerpoint on Slideshare. Teaching Ideas: -Children could make their own mosaic inspired by winter snow flakes. -Children could discuss how mosaics were made and how long the process must have taken. -Children could reflect on their own and others artwork focusing on pattern, symmetry, colour and shape. -Children could make a large-scale mosaic as part of a class project If I was teaching this lesson I would demonstrate how to make a mosaic to the children first. I would walk around the room and provide scaffolding where needed.
